Job summary

West Coast University in Irvine seeks a Senior Accountant to manage general accounting functions and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will support month-end and year-end closes and collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain data integrity.

The role requires strong knowledge of US GAAP, ASC 842 lease accounting, and ASC 606 revenue recognition. You will mentor staff, prepare schedules for audits, and identify efficiency improvements while upholding internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• CPA certification is preferred.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience with ASC 842 lease accounting.
• Experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Lead and participate in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Assist in preparing and posting all entries and reconciliation for month-end close.
• Assist in management of financial reports in Report Writing tool.
• Post and maintain non-financial metrics data in general ledger system and generation of all metrics data reports.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Administer lease accounting under ASC 842, including maintaining lease schedules, calculating ROUs and lease liabilities, and disclosures.
• Support revenue recognition under ASC 606 by reviewing contracts and determining transaction prices.
• Assist with external annual audits by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company accounting policies.
• Collaborate with departments including FP&A, Treasury, Payroll, Operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement efficiencies.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and review their work.
