Job summary

Granite City Electric Supply Company-Quincy is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, perform complex account reconciliations, and support month-end and year-end close processes in alignment with GAAP.

You will assist with audits, regulatory reporting, and continuous improvement of internal controls and accounting procedures, collaborating across finance, payroll, and operations. Public accounting experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Experience with ERP or accounting software (e.g., Eclipse, Oracle, Great Plains, Peachtree or similar systems)

Responsibilities

• Perform journal entries, reconciliations for general ledger, balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Prepare fixed asset accounting including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP
• Assist with external audits and preparation of supporting schedules
• Assist with tax, regulatory reporting and compliance as needed
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
• Maintain and document accounting procedures and internal controls
• Collaborate with finance, payroll, operations and external partners
• Participate in special accounting projects as assigned
