Hibbett Retail, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets to manage the full lifecycle of the company’s capital assets. You will handle acquisitions, capitalization, depreciation, transfers, impairment, and disposals, while maintaining asset records across subsidiaries and ensuring U.S. GAAP compliance.

You will prepare journal entries, reconciliations, CIP tracking, and period-end reporting, supporting audits and improving internal controls across the fixed asset function.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; 4-6 years of relevant work experience in Finance, Treasury, Financial Operations, or a related field; CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain fixed asset records across multiple fascias and subsidiaries.
  • Prepare fixed asset journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Ensure U.S. GAAP compliance for fixed asset activity.
  • Maintain CIP records and tracking for capitalization when appropriate.

  • Prepare fixed asset reporting and reconcile sub-ledger to GL in Workday.
  • Support internal/external audits and internal controls for fixed assets.

Job description

HB: 00015 Store Support Center R301US Hibbett Retail, Inc. The Senior Accountant, Fixed Assets will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of the company’s capital assets, from acquisition and capitalization through depreciation, transfer, impairment, and disposal. Maintain accurate and timely fixed asset records across multiple fascias and subsidiaries, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies, and prepare fixed asset journal entries, reconciliations, depreciation calculations, and period-end reporting. Support construction in progress, capitalization reviews, audit requests, internal controls, and the training and development of Fixed Asset Accountants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely records of fixed asset acquisitions, transfers, and disposals in the FAS system for multiple fascias and subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and record fixed asset journal entries in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure fixed asset records and accounting activity comply with U.S. GAAP and applicable company accounting principles.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely records of construction in progress (CIP), ensuring projects are properly tracked and capitalized when appropriate.
  • Calculate and record book and tax depreciation expense for monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end reporting periods.
  • Prepare monthly property roll-forwards and reconcile the fixed asset subsidiary ledger (FAS) to fixed asset-related general ledger accounts in Workday at the cost center level.
  • Prepare and maintain period-end, quarter-end, and year-end fixed asset reporting, including depreciation expense, net book value, disposal, and transfer reports.
  • Monitor fixed asset invoices processed through Workday to ensure invoices identified for capitalization meet established company guidelines and accounting requirements.
  • Review repair and maintenance accounts to identify invoices and expenditures that should be capitalized in accordance with company policies and U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare fixed asset accruals during quarter-end and fiscal year-end close processes to ensure expenses and capital assets are accurately reflected in the appropriate reporting period.
  • Provide data and supporting information required for fixed asset impairment calculations and record impairment entries and related asset activity.
  • Maintain financial records for IT hardware depot assets and accurately record related transactions and activity.
  • Prepare accounting reclassifications and adjustments related to fixed assets and other assigned accounting activities.
  • Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to Fixed Asset Accountants to promote accurate and consistent accounting practices.
  • Provide documentation, schedules, reconciliations, and other support for internal and external audit requests related to fixed assets.
  • Support the effectiveness of internal controls by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of fixed asset records and financial information and by communicating potential fraud risks or control concerns to management and appropriate officials.
Required Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; 4-6 years of relevant work experience in Finance, Treasury, Financial Operations, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CPA preferred.
Required Computer and Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office equivalent programs along with experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, along with experience with Workday Financials and corporate credit card programs.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with strong attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Results-oriented with high learning agility and strong analytical thinking skills.
