Summary
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for supporting the Accounting Director, Fixed Assets and Accounts Payable by managing and developing the fixed asset accounting team, reviewing journal entries and reconciliations, and supporting the monthly and quarterly financial close process across multiple companies. Prepare and review accounting entries, reconciliations, amortization schedules, and analytical reviews related to accounts payable, prepaid equipment and expenses, accrued expenses, and fixed assets. Partner with internal teams and vendors to resolve accounting variances, support system implementations and conversions, assist with audits and internal controls, and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the fixed asset accounting team, providing guidance and oversight to ensure accurate and timely completion of accounting activities.
- Review journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by fixed asset accountants to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with accounting policies.
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly journal entries for multiple companies related to accounts payable, prepaid equipment, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and other assigned accounting activities.
- Prepare accounting reclassifications and adjustments to ensure transactions are accurately recorded in the appropriate general ledger accounts and reporting periods.
- Perform and review monthly and quarterly reconciliations for multiple companies related to accounts payable, prepaid equipment, prepaid expenses, and accrued expenses, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update schedules for prepaid assets, including software subscriptions, annual contracts, and other prepaid arrangements, ensuring balances and amortization activity are accurately recorded.
- Process monthly financial amortization within the ERP system and ensure related accounting entries and schedules are accurate and complete.
- Maintain financial records for IT hardware depot assets and accurately record related asset activity and transactions.
- Reconcile Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI) balances from multiple trade systems to Workday, investigating and resolving variances to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Own the accounting relationship with Service Channel and other maintenance platforms, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and preparing monthly accruals as required.
- Manage UPS, USPS, and FedEx expense allocations to ensure costs are accurately assigned to the appropriate accounts, departments, or business units.
- Assist with the monthly consolidated financial close process, ensuring assigned activities are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Perform and document analytical reviews of general ledger account balances to substantiate the completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness of period-end balances.
- Query and analyze financial data to prepare ad hoc reports and provide accurate and timely information for requests originating both within and outside the organization.
- Work with internal and external auditors during financial audits and internal control procedures, providing requested documentation, reconciliations, and support.
- Assist with accounting system implementations, conversions, enhancements, and testing to support accurate and effective financial processes.
- Protect company assets and financial information by maintaining effective internal controls, ensuring the accuracy of accounting records, and communicating potential fraud risks or control concerns to management and appropriate officials.
- Ensure month-end close activities are completed correctly and on schedule to support efficient and accurate financial reporting.
- Complete account reconciliations by the end of the following accounting period and maintain variances within established acceptable thresholds.
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; 5-7 years of relevant work experience in Finance, Treasury, Financial Operations, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA and Master’s Degree are highly preferred.
Required Computer and Technical Skills
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office equivalent programs along with experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, along with experience with Workday Financials and corporate credit card programs. Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with strong attention to detail and communication skills. Results-oriented with high learning agility and strong analytical thinking skills.
