Job summary

Independent Health Association is seeking a Senior Accountant to prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements and tax schedules, ensuring accurate GL coding and adherence to GAAP. You will generate analytical summaries and support maintenance of consolidated statements.

The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, use of FMS, Crystal Reports, and other core financial systems, and guiding staff through month-end close processes while maintaining high data integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; 4 years experience may substitute.
• Four years of accounting experience; CPA strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of general ledger systems and PC/Windows; proficient in Microsoft Office, Visio, and Crystal Reporting.
• Must be detail oriented in documenting complex processes and workflows.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills to prepare business plans and technical designs.
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to recommend reporting or process efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries with proper documentation.
• Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual schedules for audit and management; perform analytical procedures.
• Produce monthly financial statements using GAAP & SAP methods.
• Review AP invoices for correct general ledger coding.
• Maintain departmental financial spreadsheets and ensure controls.
• Develop financial summary reports using FMS and Crystal Reports.
• Provide analytical summaries and variance analyses of financial statements.
• Support tax and regulatory reporting activities.
• Assist in training and mentoring accounting staff.
