Job description

Melville client seeks an organized, detail-oriented Senior Accountant. The position will be within the Financial Reporting Team, focused on Reporting responsibilities. The individual will be assisting with the corporate accounting functions.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare monthly reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
• Record entries and reconcile activities related to the monthly and quarterly accounting close.
• Maintain integrity of data across various reporting dimensions including legal entity, business unit, market, contract, project, etc.
• Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly reporting package, including balance sheet; income statement; cash flows & reporting documents.
• Participate in the preparation of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Filings, including: 10-K; 10-Q; 8-K, Proxy.
• Assist in preparing Quarterly Earnings material, including press releases filings for SEC reporting.
• Participate in accounting and proper treatment of complex accounting issues, including Goodwill and Fixed Asset Impairment, ASC 606 Revenue Recognition, Investments, ASC 842 Lease Accounting.
• Work with Accounting team to provide information to external and internal auditors.
• Develop and maintain solid working relationships with others in and out of the Accounting Department.
• Maintain compliance with internal control requirements for assigned areas.
• Manage other duties and ad hoc projects, as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (BA / BS) from a four-year college or university program with an emphasis in accounting.
• Minimum of 2 years of either public accounting or private company experience required.
• Excellent communication and people skills; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• CPA license is a plus, not required.
• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and management.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word).
• Experience with SEC reporting tools Workiva is a plus, not required.
• Must possess a strong work ethic and sense of urgency.
