Job summary

Abacus Group seeks a Senior Accountant, Development for their Manhattan, NY office. You will analyze GL and financial statements, prepare accruals, and coordinate construction loan requisitions, while ensuring timely funding and accurate job cost reporting.

The role requires 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or property accounting, with CPA preferred and knowledge of JD Edwards/Textura/Hubble. Public or private experience is acceptable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Construction or property accounting experience is a plus.
• Public, combo, or private experience.
• Knowledge of JD Edwards/Textura/Hubble reporting software is a plus.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the general ledger and financial statements, and prepare appropriate accrual and adjusting journal entries in accordance with GAAP
• Compile detailed monthly, quarterly, and year-end work papers
• Coordinate monthly construction loan requisitions
• Review and code contractor/vendor invoices, coordinate invoice approvals, monitor loan budgets, ensure timely funding of loan requisitions, and oversee vendor payments
• Support the management of auditor engagements for the completion of annual audit reports
• Deliver timely and accurate information to owners, lenders, and outside partners
• Verify that all job cost transactions are properly recorded in the accounting system and reflected in job cost reports
• Execute special projects as assigned by management
