Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing construction-focused organization in the Colorado Springs area. This role works closely with the CFO and Accounting team, handling core accounting functions while ensuring GAAP compliance.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced construction environment. The CFO envisions growth into Controller/CFO and offers benefits such as 401(k) matching, health insurance, PTO, bonus

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years in a senior-level finance or accounting position, preferably in the construction industry.
• Experience managing Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and procedures.
• Proficiency in creating and analyzing monthly financial reports.
• Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work closely with a senior management team.
• CPA or CMA certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department.
• Managing the preparation and review of all monthly financial reports, ensuring they comply with financial regulations and standards.
• Analyzing and reporting on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation, and analysis.
• Implementing and maintaining Work in Progress (WIP) schedules.
• Ensuring the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.
• Managing the company's tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property, and other applicable taxes.
• Managing construction accounting processes, including the recognition of revenue and cost at the project level.
• Coordinating and completing annual audits.
• Establishing and maintaining fiscal files and records to document transactions.
• Continually improving processes and systems to increase the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting and data analysis.
