Job summary

A growing construction company in West Houston is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role supports the monthly close and day-to-day corporate accounting while partnering with the Controller as the company grows.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on accountant with solid general ledger experience, a good understanding of the full month-end close process, and an interest in improving and scaling accounting processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and corporate accounting experience.
• Hands-on month-end close process, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems.
• Ability to analyze financial information, identify issues, and independently resolve them.
• Great attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective communication across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage and perform key aspects of the full monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other general ledger activity.
• Prepare and review balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations.
• Research and resolve account discrepancies and accounting issues.
• Assist with preparing monthly financial statements and management reporting.
• Maintain accurate supporting schedules and documentation for close and reporting processes.
• Work closely with the Controller on accounting initiatives and improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve, streamline, and automate accounting processes.
• Assist in developing and documenting accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Support the annual audit process and respond to external auditor requests.
• Partner with other departments to ensure accurate and timely accounting information.
