Job summary

Jobot has partnered with a well-established construction company in the Houston area to identify an Accounting Supervisor. This permanent role oversees day-to-day accounting operations, mentors staff, and supports corporate accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate will drive month-end close, maintain GL integrity, and collaborate with senior leadership on reporting initiatives. A strong background in accounting within construction is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in construction, real estate, or project-based industries.
• Prior supervisory or team lead experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of GL accounting and month-end close processes.
• CPA a plus, not required.
• Strong Excel skills; ERP/construction accounting software experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data.
• Lead and manage the month-end and year-end close process.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Supervise, mentor, and review the work of accounting staff.
• Identify opportunities for process and procedure improvements within the accounting function.
• Assist with the design and implementation of internal controls and standardized workflows.
• Support external audit requests and ensure compliance with GAAP.
• Collaborate with FP&A and senior finance leadership on reporting and process initiatives.
