Job summary

University of California, Berkeley is seeking an Accountant 4 for the Capital Projects Accounting team. The role focuses on applying GAAP to capital project financial management, reviewing invoices, reconciling accounts, and supporting project closeouts.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of accounting functions.
• Ability to extract, verify, and compile accounting information from multiple sources.
• Advanced ability to present complex accounting and finance-related information verbally and in writing.
• Advanced experience using financial transactions and systems, and related policy and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced knowledge of common desktop/web applications.
• Understanding of procedures and their impact on results.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and interprets complex reports and financial records for administrators using Unifier, BFS, CalAnswers, Maximo, EHS, and other systems.
• Develops, implements, and maintains accounting systems and integrations for capital projects to ensure efficiency and compliance.
• Applies advanced accounting concepts to analyze past performance and forecast financial outcomes across fund sources.
• Prepares journal entries and reconciles complex ledger accounts, maintaining documentation for audits and closeouts.
• Maintains records of all financial transactions and supports reporting requirements for audits and reviews.
• Coordinates information gathering and responds to inquiries across departments under supervision.
