University of California, Berkeley seeks an Accountant to support Capital Projects accounting with GAAP-based financial management, complex data analysis, and coordination across partners. The role emphasizes system expertise (Unifier, BFS, CalAnswers) and accurate reporting for multiple fund sources.

Responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis to guide decision-making. This exemption, full-time, 2-year contract offers benefits and potential remote days.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of accounting functions.
• Ability to extract, verify, and compile accounting information from multiple sources.
• Advanced ability to present complex accounting and finance information verbally and in writing.
• Extensive experience using financial systems and policy/compliance requirements.
• Strong knowledge of desktop/web applications.
• Understanding of interrelationships between procedures and results.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and interpret complex financial reports using Unifier, BFS, CalAnswers, Maximo, EHS, and other systems.
• Support design/maintenance of Unifier and BFS integrations for accounting systems.
• Perform complex financial analysis to forecast outcomes across fund sources.
• Prepare and reconcile journal entries and complex ledger accounts.
• Maintain records of financial transactions and ensure audit readiness.
• Coordinate information gathering and respond to department inquiries on financial data.
• Track AR/AP receipts and disbursements to ensure proper documentation.
• Other duties as assigned.
