Job summary

Prefect, a remote‑first software company, seeks a hands‑on Senior Accountant to own operating expense accounting. You will manage accruals, cash flow, and budget variances, ensuring timely payments to vendors and employees while supporting a modern finance stack including Ramp, Navan, and Stripe.

You will partner with department leaders to forecast budgets, drive automation, and improve close processes in a fast‑growing environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally at a fast‑growing software or tech startup.
• Hands‑on ownership of AP, corporate card programs, and/or T&E processes.
• Experience with Ramp, Stripe, and Navan.
• Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills including budget vs. actuals models.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Own budget vs. actuals reporting and explain variances to department leads.
• Manage full operating expense cycle: vendor bills, corporate card, and T&E reimbursements.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations for month‑end close (GAAP).
• Assist with federal/state tax filings and registrations, including 1099s.
• Partner with dept heads to forecast budgets and improve tracking processes.
