Job summary

Waconia Public Schools in Minnesota is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee district accounting, financial reporting, audits, and compliance with UFARS, GAAP, GASB. You will support internal controls and the finance team.

The role requires at least three years of accounting or financial management experience with supervisory responsibilities; a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business is required, CPA preferred. Work hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am–4:00pm.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Finance & Operations, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the District's accounting systems, financial reporting, audit coordination, grant accounting, financial compliance reporting, fixed asset accounting, capital project accounting, and general ledger functions. The position ensures compliance with Minnesota Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting Standards (UFARS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) requirements, and all applicable state and federal regulations. The Senior Accountant serves as a technical accounting resource to district staff and supports the efficient operation of the Finance Department through the development, implementation, and maintenance of sound accounting practices, internal controls, and financial reporting systems.

Qualifications

At least three years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience, including supervisory experience. Experience in Minnesota School Finance and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. Experience with UFARS, GAAP, GASB, SERVS Financial, SEDRA, MEGS, Skyward or comparable ERP systems

Compensation

$64,231 - $80,634depending upon qualifications, plus a generous benefits package that starts on your first day of employment
