We are looking for a Senior Accountantto join our team.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the Company's Project Accounting functions, as well as General Accounting functions. The position requires a highly motivated, "roll-up your sleeves" professional. The primary responsibility will focus on booking and maintaining the detailed project accounting entries. (OTA, or Over Time Accounting) is a major component of this role, as OTA projects represent 50% of total company revenue. Managing this accounting function and ensuring accuracy, efficiency and completeness are essential duties of this role. The individual will refine processes to help professionalize the business and mitigate risk while also producing detailed reporting and analysis. This role is very hands-on, with an emphasis on attention to detail. In addition to the project accounting tasks, this person will support the company Controller in various other tasks, including general ledger account reconciliations and business Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting.
As a Senior Accountant, you would be excepted to:
- Own all aspects of the monthly project accounting entries, including accruing for Revenue Recognition on OTA projects, expensing OTA Material receipts, reversing the impact of OTA customer invoices and standard costs and reconciling the amounts to the respective balance sheet accounts (e.g. Contract Assets and Liabilities).
- Update project values and costs as change orders are received. Schedule and review project status and updates with the respective Project Managers (PMs) on a monthly basis, if not more often.
- Support the Operations Manager in response to requests for information and analysis as they relate to OTA projects and administration.
- Provide support during annual Audit.
- Maintain the Company's Accounting systems and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with the preparation of reporting packages to investors and otherstakeholders.
- Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of the Company's financialinformation.
- Operate in detail-oriented and fact-based style; apply Best Practices where needed.
- Collaborate with FP&A and other cross-functional teams to gather data, improveprocesses, and support business needs.
- Participate in continuous process improvement programs to streamline,document, and automate processes and enhance internal controls.
We are looking for someone who:
- Experience with OTA or Percentage Completion accounting preferred
- Knowledge of job costing, product costing and/or cost accounting
- Monthly closing cycle to include Bank reconciliation and Monthly Account Analyses;
- Prior experience with consolidated financials is a plus;
- Experience in electronics manufacturing or contract manufacturing a plus;
- Strong understanding of finance operations, including the development and analysis of finance metrics to drive business performance and decision-making, preferred
- 5 - 10 years of overall accounting experience;
- 4-year Undergraduate Degree, preferably in Accounting.
