Job Description: Senior Accountant (Remote)

Position: Senior Accountant

Location: Remote (U.S.-based)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: Director of Finance

Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to own the General Ledger and support the company’s day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close process. This role oversees Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and is responsible for ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong full-cycle accounting experience with hands‑on knowledge of AR, AP, cash management, bank reconciliations, and month-end close, and works closely with finance leadership to ensure financial data is complete, reliable, and audit-ready. CPA certification is not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and cash reconciliations and investigate/resolve reconciling items
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including financial statement preparation
  • Assist with financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting
  • Oversee and support Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities
  • Support cash management and basic treasury activities
  • Partner with payroll and HR on payroll-related accounting entries
  • Support audits, tax filings, and other compliance requests as needed
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and applicable accounting standards
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
  • Maintain adherence to internal policies and accounting standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 4–7+ years of progressive, hands‑on accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting, including full‑cycle close
  • Proven experience owning the General Ledger in a small to mid‑sized or multi‑entity environment
  • Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar ERP platforms; implementation experience a plus
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIF, etc.)
  • Hands‑on experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank and cash reconciliations, and month‑end close
  • CPA certification not required
  • Prior experience in construction, project‑based, or multi‑entity environments is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
