We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to become a valued member of our team. This full-time position offers a competitive salary that aligns with experience and the responsibilities of the role.

The Senior Accountant’s primary function is to engage in a range of advanced professional accounting tasks, focusing on the recording and reporting of financial transactions, and preparing comprehensive financial reports and special financial analyses. Provide valuable assistance to management staff in achieving financial goals. Additionally, this is a key role in overseeing the financial operations of the utility, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and understanding the regulatory requirements set forth by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). This position requires strong financial expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to upholding the Company's mission and values.

Hiring Process: The hiring process involves a review of initial applications, and selected candidates will be contacted for additional information and a possible interview. Knowledge:

  • Clerical -Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography, and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Mathematics -Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • English Language -Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Economics and Accounting -Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Customer and Personal Service -Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Computers and Electronics -Knowledge of electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

Education & Training Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
  • Five to eight years of responsible professional accounting experience.
  • Extensive experience with accounting, spreadsheet and word processing software, interactive websites, and other software tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and
  • Understanding of FERC requirements – Preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
