Marine is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its team in Sparta, Tennessee. You will handle various finance-related tasks including maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, and assisting with month-end closing activities.

Qualifications

About the position

As a Senior Accountant in the Sparta team, you will be involved in a variety of finance-related tasks including but not limited to preparing and maintaining accounting records, payroll reporting, journal entries, Balance Sheet reconciliations, and various internal and external reporting and analysis.

Your main responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Assist with month-end closing activities.
• Prepare journal entries and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Process payroll reports and serve as HR backup during planned absences.
• Submit required monthly internal and external reporting.
• Maintain financial performance tracking reports including sales, margin, and PPV.
• Maintain and update fixed asset records.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Present financial statement records as necessary.
• Assist with internal controls and process efficiency improvements.
• Search for cost reductions and financial system errors to correct.
• Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned.

A suitable background would be a

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting / Finance.
• 2+ years of related position experience within manufacturing environment preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
• 2+ years’ experience with payroll administration and general ledger activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, Lookups, etc.)
• ERP and Accounting Systems experience.
