Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Senior Accountant for the Central New Jersey—Somerville area to join our accounting team. This hands-on role focuses on the general ledger, close processes, and cross-functional collaboration with various business areas.

The ideal candidate has 5-7+ years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills; ERP experience with Dynamics 365 is preferred. CPA or CPA-track is a plus in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Manufacturing or cost accounting experience preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills, including experience with formulas, data analysis, and reporting.
• Experience working with an ERP system; Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, reconciliation, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus.
• Previous experience supervising or reviewing the work of accounting staff is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide meaningful explanations.
• Support financial reporting and preparation of financial statements.
• Perform detailed account analysis and research discrepancies.
• Work closely with internal departments to resolve accounting and reconciliation issues.
• Review accounting work for accuracy and completeness and provide guidance to junior staff as needed.
• Assist with process improvements and other accounting projects.
• Maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
