• Analyze leasing/financing activity and its impact on cash flow and balance sheet.
• Prepare variance analysis and management commentary.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to gather information and support month-end close.
• Assist internal/external audits related to lease/financing accounting.
• Identify process improvements to streamline reconciliation and close.
• Support ad hoc projects and analysis as needed.

Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting for our leasing and equipment financing operations. The ideal candidate will personally manage journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly analysis, while partnering closely with business and finance stakeholders across the organization. This is not a purely supervisory position; the successful candidate will be directly involved in the transactional and analytical work of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries related to lease and financing transactions, including new lease bookings, amortization, interest expense, and payment activity
• Perform monthly reconciliations of lease/financing sub-ledgers and schedules to the general ledger, ensuring compliance with ASC 842 (or IFRS 16, as applicable)
• Conduct monthly financial analysis of leasing and financing activity, including impacts to the cash flow statement and balance sheet (right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, and related accounts)
• Prepare variance analysis and commentary to support management reporting
• Coordinate with business unit stakeholders, FP&A, treasury, and other accounting teams to gather information, resolve discrepancies, and support month-end close
• Support internal and external audit requests related to lease and financing accounting
• Identify and recommend process improvements to streamline reconciliation and close activities
• Assist with ad hoc projects and analysis as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with direct exposure to lease accounting and/or equipment financing preferred
• Working knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting standards
• Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (e.g., [SAP/Oracle/NetSuite]) and lease accounting software a plus
• Demonstrated ability to manage transactional accounting work directly (not just review/oversight)
• Strong communication skills and comfort coordinating across business and finance teams
• CPA or progress toward CPA a plus, but not required
