National Material L.P. in Rosemont, IL invites applications for a Senior Accountant to support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities. The role reports to the Controller and requires collaboration across finance functions to ensure accurate reporting and effective controls.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years of accounting experience, a solid grasp of U.S. GAAP, strong Excel and ERP proficiency, and a willingness to contribute to process improvements in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on month-end close
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred but not required)
• Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365)
• Manufacturing/industrial experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process with journal entries, reconciliations, consolidation and variance analysis
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages and consolidated statements
• Analyze revenue, COGS and inventory to identify trends and variances
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts across entities and ledgers
• Support budgeting and forecasting with variance follow-up
• Drive process improvements and automation to strengthen internal controls
• Support ad hoc financial analyses and special projects

Position Summary

We are seeking a talented & dynamic individual to fill the position of Senior Accountant in our new corporate office located in Rosemont, Illinois. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting our accounting and reporting function in performing the monthly, quarterly and yearly activities. The position reports to the NMLP Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the month-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, consolidation and variance analysis
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages, including consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules
• Analyze revenue, cost of goods sold, and inventory to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts across multiple entities and ledgers, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including review of business unit submissions and follow-up on variances
• Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed

Required Skills:

• Good understanding of U.S. GAAP and ability to stay current with accounting developments
• Advanced Excel skills, including data modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas, and large dataset management
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact across functions

Experience and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Accounting concentration required if not an accounting degree)
• CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred but not required
• 4+ years of relevant accounting experience, including hands‑on involvement in month-end close
• Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments (e.g., steel) preferred but not required
• Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics AX/D365 or similar) required
