Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, senior-level preferred.
• Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Experience with job costing, cost centers, or project-based accounting is strongly preferred.
• Experience with 1099 reporting and vendor tax documentation.
• Strong understanding of GL accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close procedures.
• Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.

• Perform senior-level accounting functions including general ledger management, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-/year-end close.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis, including budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analysis, expense trends, and profitability analysis.
• Prepare and manage 1099 reporting and review vendor records for tax documentation.
• Partner with job cost centers and operations leadership to monitor expenses and allocate labor, materials, and overhead.
• Provide financial reporting and analysis to management to support decisions.

Sierra Staffing Group is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a great mining company in the Reno, NV area. This position will oversee a broad range of accounting functions while providing financial analysis and partnering closely with operational teams and job cost centers. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting fundamentals, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to translate financial information into actionable business insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all standard senior-level accounting functions, including general ledger management, account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit support.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis, including budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analysis, expense trends, and profitability analysis.
• Prepare and manage 1099 reporting, including reviewing vendor records and ensuring accurate tax documentation.
• Partner directly with job cost centers and operational leadership to monitor expenses, analyze job costs, investigate variances, and ensure accurate allocation of labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
• Provide financial reporting and analysis to management to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Identify cost trends, opportunities for improved efficiency, and potential cost savings.
• Assist with the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company accounting policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Support internal and external audits and assist with process improvements and internal controls.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with both accounting and operational teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines.
• Mining, construction, manufacturing, heavy industrial, or other project-based industry experience is a plus.
