Gallo Mechanical LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support month-end close, construction accounting, reconciliations, and other key activities in a fast-paced environment. The role requires proactive problem solving, independent work, and collaboration across departments to strengthen internal controls and accuracy.

A Bachelor's or Master's in Accounting/Finance and 3–5 years of experience are preferred, with strong Excel and Vista experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of industry experience.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and Viewpoint Vista experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across levels.
• Knowledge of construction accounting practices is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end and year-end close processes with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Manage WIP schedules and track project costs, billings, and progress.
• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules and prepare entries.
• Review leased asset schedules for accuracy and proper accounting.
• Review sales tax accruals monthly for accuracy before payment.
• Support inventory reconciliations and related analyses.
• Perform credit card reconciliations and related activities.
• Collaborate with the Director of Accounting and Accounting Manager on monthly activities and analyses.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and internal controls.

Job description

Gallo Mechanical is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to join our Accounting Department. The Senior Accountant will play an important role in the month-end close process while supporting construction accounting, reconciliations, and other key accounting activities.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who combines strong technical accounting skills with excellent organization, attention to detail, and a continuous-improvement mindset. This is a hands-on role that requires the ability to work independently, collaborate effectively across departments, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
• Prepare and maintain accurate balance sheet reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances or discrepancies
• Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, ensuring accurate tracking of project costs, billings, and progress
• Maintain fixed asset and amortization schedules and prepare supporting documentation for depreciation and amortization journal entries
• Review leased asset schedules monthly to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper accounting treatment
• Review sales tax accrual accounts monthly for accuracy prior to payment
• Support inventory management activities including reconciliations and analysis
• Perform credit card reconciliations and assist with related accounting activities
• Partner with the Director of Accounting and Accounting Manager on monthly accounting activities, special projects, and financial analysis
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase efficiency and accuracy

Requirements

• Bachelor and/or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3 - 5 years of industry related experience
• Microsoft Office Suite knowledge - Advanced Excel proficiency
• Viewpoint Vista experience - Preferred
• Ability to work independently with a proactive approach to resolve issues and improve processes with Internal Controls
• Able to critically think and assist in improving processes
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of construction industry-specific accounting practices and terminology is highly beneficial
• Proficiency in Accounting software (Vista) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
