We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the organization, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and supporting the mission through accurate and transparent financial reporting. This role involves budgeting, grant tracking, fund accounting, and financial statement preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate fund accounting for multiple programs and restricted funds.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Track and report on grants, donations, and other funding sources, ensuring proper allocation and compliance with donor restrictions.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and provide variance analysis reports.
• Prepare documentation for annual audits and work with external auditors as needed.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and filing requirements (e.g., IRS Form 990).
• Collaborate with program staff to provide financial insights and support grant reporting.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
• 3+ years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a nonprofit organization.
• Proficiency with nonprofit accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Nonprofit, Blackbaud, Sage Intacct).
• Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with grant management and reporting.
• Familiarity with audit preparation and working with external auditors.
• Knowledge of federal grant compliance (e.g., OMB Uniform Guidance).
