Job summary

Friedman Williams is seeking a sharp, detail-driven accounting professional to own reporting, compliance, and analysis across multiple entities, working shoulder-to-shoulder with our CFO and helping shape the firm's financial future.

This role isn't siloed; you'll mentor junior staff, partner with leadership on strategic decisions, and provide executive-ready insights from complex data in a fast-paced, multi-office environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 5+ years accounting/financial analysis experience; law firm experience a big plus.
• Strong GL accounting, budgeting, and legal billing/trust accounting.
• Experience with legal accounting software (Aderant Expert preferred) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across multiple entities.
• Spot trends, flag risks, and surface opportunities through KPI and variance analysis.
• Team up with our Financial Analyst on profitability reporting, forecasting, and cash flow.
• Drive month-end/year-end close, GL activity, and complex reconciliations (trust, WIP, payroll, intercompany).
• Manage multi-state tax filings (FL, NY, NJ, PA) and ensure GAAP/regulatory compliance.
• Lead internal/external audit coordination and tax prep with the CFO.
• Coach and develop junior accounting talent.
• Turn complex financial data into clear, executive-ready insights.

We're looking for a sharp, detail-driven accounting professional to lead reporting, compliance, and analysis across multiple offices — working shoulder-to-shoulder with our CFO and playing a real role in shaping the firm's financial future.

This isn't a heads-down, siloed role. You'll mentor junior staff, partner with leadership on strategic decisions, and have real visibility into how the firm operates day to day.

What You'll Own

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across multiple entities
• Spot trends, flag risks, and surface opportunities through KPI and variance analysis
• Team up with our Financial Analyst on profitability reporting, forecasting, and cash flow

Accounting Operations

• Drive month-end/year-end close, GL activity, and complex reconciliations (trust, WIP, payroll, intercompany)
• Manage multi-state tax filings (FL, NY, NJ, PA) and keep us airtight on GAAP/regulatory compliance
• Maintain the chart of accounts, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations

Audit & Controls

• Lead internal/external audit coordination and tax prep alongside the CFO and auditors
• Strengthen internal controls and lead risk assessments
• Be a trusted advisor to the CFO on cash position, performance, and risk
• Coach and develop junior accounting talent
• Turn complex financial data into clear, executive-ready insights

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• 5+ years of accounting/financial analysis experience (law firm experience a big plus)
• Strong foundation in GL accounting, budgeting, and legal billing/trust accounting
• Experience with legal accounting software (Aderant Expert preferred)
• Advanced Excel chops
• A sharp analytical mind, high discretion, and the calm to juggle priorities in a fast-paced environment
