Job summary

WatchGuard is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join its global finance team. Based in the US with international operations, the role reports to the Corporate Controller and oversees general ledger activities, month-end close, and financial reporting in line with US GAAP.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred, and has 3+ years of relevant experience.

• 3+ years in position(s) with equivalent responsibilities.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge and general accounting background.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in month-end closing of the general ledger, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure estimates, accruals, prepayments, reserves and provisions are properly supported under US GAAP.
• Review trial balance and financial statements for completeness and accuracy.
• Own fixed assets accounting for the company.
• Research accounting guidance and provide recommendations on treatment and application.
• Update consolidated general ledger for overseas transactions.
• Review international accounting outputs and assist in reclaiming VAT/GST where applicable.

About the Position

The WatchGuard accounting team is primarily based in Seattle, WA with numerous accountants around the world supporting international operations.

This position reports to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for various aspects of the general ledger as assigned. Areas of responsibility include assuring company compliance with generally accepted accounting principles; development, improvement of and compliance with company policies and procedures; and management of the monthly closing process and financial reporting.

Position Responsibilities

• Assist in month-end closing of the general ledger, including preparation and recording of journal entries, preparation and review of balance sheet account reconciliations
• Ensure that estimates, accruals, prepayments, reserves and provisions are calculated and supported with appropriate basis or backup, in accordance with US GAAP
• Review trial balance and financial statements for completeness and accuracy
• Ownership of fixed assets accounting for the company
• Research accounting guidance and provide recommendation on accounting treatment and application
• Update consolidated general ledger for transactions in overseas operations
• Review financial reports produced by international bookkeepers and assist in reclaiming VAT, GST, etc.

Compensation

The base salary range is $90,000-$110,000 per year for full-time employment, exclusive of benefits. Your base salary will be determined by your individual skills, education, and experience. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical in order to allow for future salary growth.
