Job summary

GRVTY is seeking a Senior Accountant to support monthly close, ensure GAAP compliance, and strengthen internal controls within a fast-paced environment. The role involves complex accounting activities, analysis of financial data, and collaboration with FP&A, Tax, and Treasury to drive improvements.

Responsibilities include audits support, technical accounting research, and policy maintenance. The position offers exposure to Deltek Costpoint and government contracting contexts in McLean, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required or in progress in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience; government contracting a plus.
• CPA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities with journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement schedules.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Support internal and external audit requirements with documentation and timely responses.
• Assist with technical accounting research and adoption of new standards.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
• Partner with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and operations across functions.
• Assist with system enhancements, automation, and process simplification.
• Participate in special projects as needed.

Job description

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the company’s financial close processes, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls. This role will perform complex accounting activities, assist with analyses for management, and contribute to process improvements within the accounting function.

What You'll Be Owning:

• Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement schedules
• Analyze financial data and identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement
• Support internal and external audit requirements with clear documentation and timely responses
• Assist with technical accounting research and implementation of new standards
• Contribute to development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures
• Partner with cross-functional teams including FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and operations
• Assist with system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process simplification
• Participate in special projects as needed

What You Must Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3-5 plus years of accounting experience, government contracting is a plus
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint is a plus
• Strong knowledge of GAAP principles
• Understanding of internal controls, including Sarbanes Oxley compliance
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment
• Experience in a mid to large corporate environment
• CPA certification preferred but not required
