Job summary

Armadillo, a purpose-driven rug brand with showrooms in Los Angeles and globally, seeks an experienced accounting leader to manage the accounting functions during a growth phase. You will oversee month-end close, AP/AR, tax filings, licenses, and financial reporting, while building scalable processes and leading a small team.

Based in the Los Angeles area, this hybrid role requires collaboration across departments and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain documentation of processes and department manuals.
• Act as gatekeeper to maintain accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Monitor sales and A/R ledger to prevent bad debt or dilution.
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end closing and internal reports.
• Forecast cash flow and manage liquidity.
• Lead and upskill AP/AR staff.
• Prepare monthly financial package reports.
• Manage sales tax filings via Avalara and licenses when thresholds are met.
• Oversee annual 1099 reporting and liaise with external tax agents.
• Renew business licenses at state and local levels.
• Distribute and lead budget vs. actual reporting with commentary.
• Collaborate with department leads on strategic projects.

About the Role

This is a versatile, process-driven role that will help build the department during an exciting growth phase within the company. This role will lead the accounting functions of the business through project management, day to day task execution and developing team members. This role requires a data driven, analytical, and results oriented mindset. The candidate should be comfortable creating and documenting processes, while using data and analytics to guide objectives, priorities, and focus.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Compliance

• Create and maintain documentation of processes and department manuals.
• Act as gatekeeper to maintain accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Actively monitor sales and A/R ledger to prevent bad debt or other dilution.
• Responsible for timely and accurate month end closing tasks and other month end internal reports.
• Closely manage cash flow and produce accurate forecasts.
• Manage and upskill direct report (AP/AR Specialist).
• Prepare monthly financial package reports.
• Responsible for managing sales tax filings through Avalara and opening new reselling licenses in states where the threshold has been met.
• Annual 1099 reporting.
• Key point of contact for annual tax returns managed by external tax agent.
• Annual business licenses renewals, and state level licensing renewal.

Project Management & Reporting

• Distribute and lead budget vs actual reporting with commentary to various departments.
• Work with department leads in various projects set out by senior management.
• Other internal reports or data analysis as required.

• Experience with ERP systems is required. Netsuite is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Experience with inventory management and general ledger accounting

• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, analytical, and technology skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to be in office minimum of 3 days per week.
• Flexibility to work with global time zones (EST, AEST)
