Position Title: Senior Accountant
A growing financial services firm is seeking a Senior Accountant to support financial reporting, investment portfolio accounting, and cash management for a diverse portfolio of client investment entities. This role will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing month-end and quarter-end close activities, reconciling accounts, validating transactions, and supporting budgeting and financial projections while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
The ideal candidate has 3+ years of accounting experience, strong financial reporting and reconciliation skills, and advanced Excel proficiency, including macros. Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 / annually, DOE
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly financial statements for managed investment entities and clients
- Manage month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Support investment portfolio and bond accounting activities, including trade validation and cash management
- Investigate discrepancies, resolve reconciling items, and ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards
- Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and 12-month rolling projections
- Utilize advanced Excel functions, macros, and automation tools to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to streamline processes, support special projects, and respond to client accounting inquiries
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, or equivalent relevant professional experience
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, fund accounting, public accounting, client accounting, or bond accounting
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statement preparation, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including macros and the ability to leverage AI-assisted automation tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to independently investigate discrepancies, manage recurring deadlines, and maintain accuracy during busy reporting periods
- Experience with bond accounting, fund accounting, or Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude for process improvement is a plus
