Job summary

Staffmark Group in Lafayette, LA is seeking a Senior Accountant for a direct-hire position. The role focuses on fixed asset accounting, depreciation, asset tracking, and reconciliations, with responsibility for journal entries and month-end close.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in accounting or finance, 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (CPA preferred), strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Excel skills. ERP experience and ability to improve processes are highly valued.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting, data analysis, and account reconciliation.
  • Ability to work independently, solve complex accounting issues, and drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of fixed asset accounting, including asset capitalization, transfers, disposals, depreciation, and asset tracking.
  • Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger, ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Review and classify capital expenditures in compliance with GAAP standards.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, perform account reconciliations, and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation, variance analysis, budgeting, and capital expenditure reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and financial data.
  • Conduct fixed asset inventory reviews and help maintain effective asset management controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen financial reporting accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams while demonstrating strong ownership, accountability, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Senior Accountant - Direct Hire

Location: Lafayette, LA

Salary: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year

Schedule: 1st Shift

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
