Job summary

Intersurgical, Inc. in Indianapolis seeks a Senior Accountant to join our multi-entity Accounting team. You will own day-to-day accounting across entities, including intercompany activity, and drive accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of corporate accounting experience, strong US GAAP knowledge, and solid Excel skills. This in-office role offers some work-from-home flexibility after training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience.
• Experience in a multi-company or multi-entity environment preferred.
• Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and US GAAP.
• ERP experience; Sage preferred.
• Proficient Excel and financial data analysis.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own key components of the monthly and year-end close process.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple entities.
• Manage intercompany transactions and eliminations.
• Understand AP/AR flows and ERP impact on GL.
• Research and resolve discrepancies across entities and systems.
• Support cash, balance sheet, and fixed assets accounting activities.
• Review accounting activity for accuracy and proper classification.
• Assist with audit requests and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other departments to ensure accurate reporting.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen processes, controls, and documentation.
• Support special projects and evolving business needs.

Purpose

Intersurgical is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Indianapolis-based Accounting team. We are looking for someone with a strong corporate accounting background, ideally within a multi-entity organization, who understands both the fundamentals of accounting and how transactions move across multiple companies and through the broader business.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can step into an established operation, quickly learn our business and systems, and take ownership of day-to-day accounting responsibilities. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across multiple entities, navigating intercompany relationships, and digging into the details when something doesn't reconcile or make sense.

Responsibilities

• Support and own key components of the monthly and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple company entities
• Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances, including charges, allocations, settlements, and elimination-related activity
• Basic understanding of AP/AR and how those transactions flow through the ERP & impact the GL
• Research and resolve discrepancies across entities, accounts, and systems
• Support cash, balance sheet, fixed asset, inventory, and other operational accounting activities as applicable
• Review accounting activity for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate classification
• Assist with audit requests and supporting documentation
• Partner with Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other departments to resolve issues and ensure accurate financial reporting
• Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, controls, documentation, and system utilization
• Support special projects and evolving business needs as the organization continues to grow

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience
• Experience working within a multi-company or multi-entity corporate environment strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and the financial relationships between related entities
• Strong working knowledge of USGAAP
• Experience working within an ERP environment required; Sage experience strongly preferred
• Experience preparing month end closingjournal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement support
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
• High attention to detail and the ability to recognize when something doesn't look right, and determine why
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, learn quickly, and take ownership of responsibilities with limited oversight

What Will Make You Successful Here

You understand corporate accounting beyond one specific function. Example : You can follow a transaction from AP or AR through the general ledger, understand what happens when multiple legal entities are involved, and identify where something went wrong when the numbers don't align.

You don't need every responsibility handed to you in a perfectly documented checklist. You know the fundamentals, ask good questions, learn systems quickly, and are comfortable getting into the details.

This is an in-office position located at our office near downtown with the ability to work from home once a week upon successful training completion.
