Job summary

Chrane Foodservice Solutions, LLC is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team in Houston, TX. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will support day-to-day accounting operations with hands-on work across accounts payable and receivable, the general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.

You will help ensure accurate financial records, collaborate across departments, and participate in process improvements while meeting tight deadlines during peak periods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Moderate to advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, lookups, large data sets).
• Experience with Sage accounting software; ERP systems experience welcomed.
• Proficiency using AI tools to streamline workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear, professional communication and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounts payable functions: invoice review, coding, entry, payment processing, vendor research, and discrepancy resolution.
• Perform accounts receivable: customer invoicing, payment application, account research, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
• Prepare and post routine and adjusting journal entries and maintain general ledger activity.
• Support monthly close to ensure complete and timely financials.
• Prepare reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheet accounts, and other GL accounts.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and data inconsistencies in a timely manner.
• Prepare supporting schedules, reports, and analyses for management and financial reporting.
• Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other recurring activities.
• Support internal controls and identify process improvements.

Chrane is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will support day-to-day accounting operations and help keep our financial records accurate and timely, with hands-on work across accounts payable and receivable, the general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close. What You Will Do

• Perform accounts payable functions, including invoice review, coding, entry, payment processing, vendor account research, and resolving discrepancies
• Perform accounts receivable functions, including customer invoicing, payment application, account research, and follow-up on outstanding balances
• Prepare and post routine and adjusting journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger activity
• Support the monthly close process so financial information is complete, accurate, and recorded in the proper period
• Prepare and maintain reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheet accounts, and other general ledger accounts
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, reconciling items, and data inconsistencies in a timely manner
• Prepare supporting schedules, reports, and account analyses for management and financial reporting
• Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other recurring accounting activities
• Support internal controls and identify opportunities to improve, simplify, and document accounting processes
• Assist with year-end activities and provide supporting documentation for external accountants, auditors, and tax providers
• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned

What We Are Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on general ledger and month-end close responsibilities
• Moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables, lookups, and working with large data sets
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Teams
• Experience with Sage accounting software preferred; experience with comparable accounting or ERP systems is also welcome
• Solid understanding of general accounting principles and standard accounting processes
• Proficiency using AI tools to streamline accounting workflows, analyze data, and improve efficiency
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research issues and work independently toward resolution
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Clear, professional communication skills and a collaborative approach
• Availability for extended hours during month-end, year-end, and other peak accounting periods

Travel

Occasional travel to attend company meetings, training, and other events as needed.
