Job summary

Ledgent is seeking a Senior Accountant for an established engineering firm in Hampstead, MD. This role focuses on full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You will partner with operations, support audits, and help with budgeting and cash flow analysis. A BA/BS in accounting and 4+ years of experience with GAAP and ERP systems are required; CPA is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.

Responsibilities

• Perform full-cycle accounting including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
• Analyze financial data and prepare monthly reporting packages.
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and investigate accounting discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.
• Support external audits and year-end tax preparation.
• Monitor and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Partner with operational teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Assist with project accounting and cost tracking as needed.
• Contribute to process improvements and increased efficiencies within the accounting department.

• Experience with cost accounting within a manufacturing, engineering, construction, or project-based environment.
• CPA designation or CPA-track candidate is a plus.
