Job summary

The Opportunity: A well-established, multi-office commercial law firm in Fort Lauderdale seeks an experienced accounting professional to join its finance team. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role supports multi-office accounting operations and turns financial data into actionable insights for leadership.

You will manage general ledger activity, prepare statements, support close processes, and develop reports on billing, profitability, and budgeting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • At least five years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
  • Strong general ledger, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and reconciliation experience.
  • Knowledge of legal billing and trust accounting; law firm or professional services experience preferred.
  • Legal accounting or enterprise financial management software experience is an advantage.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, financial modeling, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements across multiple offices and legal entities.
  • Support month-end and year-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Manage general ledger activity and reconcile operating and trust accounts, unapplied cash, WIP, payroll, intercompany activity, and liabilities.
  • Produce billing, collections, profitability, KPI, cash, and budget-to-actual reports for leadership.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial modeling, and scenario analysis.
  • Coordinate audits and tax preparation, including documentation, testing, and issue resolution.
  • Manage applicable multi-state Sales and Use Tax and Tangible Personal Property Tax filings in FL, NY, NJ, and PA.
  • Evaluate controls, improve processes, and mentor junior accounting staff.
