Job summary

TrovaTal, a national Legal Services firm based in New York City, seeks a Senior Accountant to join the team hybrid in Manhattan. You will report to the Assistant Controller and contribute to the General Ledger and financial reporting across departments.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in GL and financial reporting, with GAAP expertise; CPA or public accounting experience is a plus, and the role requires a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the Manhattan office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 4+ years of general ledger and financial reporting experience.
• Prior accounting experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred.
• CPA or prior public accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Support monthly and annual close activities, including General Ledger accounting and reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries for GAAP compliance.
• Review expenses and AP transactions and ensure proper GL coding.
• Produce financial reporting packages and schedules.
• Perform variance and budget-to-Actual analysis across multiple departments.
• Assist with bank and cash reconciliations and other accounting activities.
• Participate in updates to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Support annual external audit activities and prepare requested schedules.

Senior Accountant – Legal Services
Location: Manhattan, NY (Hybrid, 3 days in-office)

A national Legal Services firm based in New York City has created a new role on its staff for an experienced Senior Accountant. Reporting to the Assistant Controller and collaborating with team members across various departments, this individual will be a key contributor to the firm's General Ledger accounting and financial reporting activities.

Primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies


• Support monthly and annual close activities, including General Ledger accounting and reporting


• Prepare and review journal entries for accuracy and compliance with GAAP


• Review expenses and AP transactions and ensure proper General Ledger coding


• Produce financial reporting packages and supporting schedules


• Perform variance and budget-to-actual analysis across multiple departments


• Assist with bank and cash reconciliations and other firmwide accounting activities


• Participate in special projects, including updates to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls


• Support annual external audit activities and prepare requested schedules and documentation

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting


• 4+ years of progressive General Ledger and Financial Reporting experience


• Prior accounting experience within a law firm or professional services environment preferred


• Strong understanding of GAAP, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting


• Experience with Aderant, Elite 3E, or similar professional services accounting systems preferred


• CPA or prior public accounting experience is a plus


• Ability to work a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in the Manhattan office

Compensation:

Competitive salary range: $105,000 - $125,000 per year plus benefits and performance incentives.
