VFP is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the company's accounting operations, with a strong emphasis on multi-state sales tax compliance and month-end financial reporting. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who enjoys balancing routine accounting responsibilities with specialized, technical work requiring accuracy and critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multi-state sales and use tax filings across 30+ states, ensuring compliance with state regulations
• Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Research sales tax issues and maintain accurate tax documentation
• Prepare financial reports and perform general accounting activities
• Partner with internal teams to improve accounting processes and maintain data accuracy

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
• 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Previous experience preparing and filing multi-state sales tax returns strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of month-end close processes and general accounting principles
• Experience working in an ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage recurring deadlines while balancing multiple priorities
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think beyond transactional accounting

Preferred Experience

• Experience filing sales tax for multiple legal entities
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or a commodity-based industry is a plus
• Familiarity with outsourced tax compliance providers is helpful but not required
