About the Opportunity:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its team in Northbrook. In this role, you will take ownership of essential accounting activities, provide meaningful financial insight, and collaborate across departments to support sound business decisions.

This role includes the heavy support of their plant locations and operations. This will be well suited for a professional with strong experience with cost and inventory. Experience working closely with plant personnel is essential for the success of this role!

You Will:

• Lead key activities throughout the monthly financial close.
• Prepare and analyze journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance-sheet variances.
• Support product costing and monthly cost-variance analysis.
• Prepare local financial reports and key performance indicator reports.
• Manage asset componentization, retirements, and closures.
• Maintain documentation and processes that support internal-control requirements.
• Assist with internal and external audits, annual budgeting, and other requested reporting.
• Identify control or process deficiencies and help implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to reporting enhancements, organizational goals, and safety initiatives.

You Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or an equivalent qualification.
• Five to seven years of progressively responsible accounting as well as manufacturing and cost accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
