Senior Accountant – Hospitality Industry

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid Schedule)

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic and fast-paced team at a leading hospitality company based in Chicago. The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of progressive accounting experience and a strong background in general ledger management, financial reporting, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate the monthly general ledger close process in collaboration with team members
• Prepare and review complex journal entries and account reconciliations
• Prepare internal financial statements and reporting schedules
• Compile audit schedules and support external auditor reviews and year-end audits
• Support the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
• Review fixed asset ledger entries to ensure compliance with the company’s Fixed Asset policy
• Foster strong cross-functional relationships with internal stakeholders and operational teams across properties
• Lead and participate in complex accounting initiatives and special projects
• Champion process improvements and automation within the shared services function
• Mentor and support staff accountants, contributing to team development and performance
• Document and standardize accounting processes and procedures
• Manage sales and use tax filings, staying current with state and local tax (SALT) regulations
• Provide sound financial guidance on lodge-level accounting activities
• Contribute to ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong technical accounting skills and analytical mindset
• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Familiarity with sales and use tax regulations is a plus
• Ability to work in a hybrid model at our Chicago corporate office (subject to change)
