A commercial property real estate client in Chicago is seeking a contract Senior Property Accountant (100% remote).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Prior experience in the Real Estate industry

General Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Manage and execute the company's accounting and financial reporting functions, including the timely preparation of month-end financial statements.
2. Record journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
3. Oversee all accounting activities related to month-end close, including reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and other processes.
4. Review and analyze the general ledger.
5. Prepare property/development management fees and construction management fees, ensuring proper calculation, invoicing, and recording.
6. Maintain fixed assets, including recording new assets and monthly amortization/depreciation.
7. Review AR aging, assess collectability, and recommend write-offs or reserves.
8. Assist Property Management team with A/R analysis for collections.
9. Process revenue billings and record cash receipts diligently.
10. Ensure internal controls are followed.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Experience in the Real Estate industry
• At least 4 years of relevant accounting experience
• ERP system experience (Oracle & JD Edwards preferred)
• CPA preferred
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work well with all levels of employees
