Job description

Sourcing an experienced and detail-driven Senior Accountant to join the finance team at a well-established insurance company in downtown Los Angeles. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with insurance regulations and accounting standards, and supporting key close and audit processes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise and thrives in a regulated, fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory accounting principles (SAP), and internal controls.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Support regulatory reporting and filings specific to the insurance industry.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and respond to audit requests.
  • Analyze financial data, identify variances, and provide actionable insights.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff and support process improvements and system enhancements.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; insurance or regulated financial services industry experience highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP; experience with statutory accounting is a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a hybrid environment.
