Job description

What You'll Be Doing

The Senior Accountant will have responsibility for engagements at different stages throughout the year, including planning, fieldwork, financial reporting and tax compliance.

Audit & Assurance
  • Participate in and lead day-to-day fieldwork for audit and other assurance engagements.
  • Plan engagement procedures and prepare work programs for management approval.
  • Assist with identifying and assessing engagement and audit risks.
  • Prepare and review workpapers, ensuring documentation meets professional and firm standards.
  • Prepare financial statements and related footnote disclosures.
  • Apply GAAP and generally accepted auditing standards across client assignments.
  • Identify accounting or reporting issues and work with senior team members to determine appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients throughout fieldwork and engagement completion.
Tax
  • Prepare complex individual and business income tax returns.
  • Review tax returns completed by junior members of the team.
  • Prepare tax projections and assist with year-round planning assignments.
  • Research federal and state tax issues and document conclusions clearly.
  • Identify tax matters requiring further consideration and discuss recommendations with managers or partners.
Engagement & Team Responsibilities

Beyond the technical work, you'll begin taking greater ownership of the overall client relationship and engagement process.

You'll be expected to:

  • Plan and manage several assignments simultaneously.
  • Coordinate engagement schedules and help ensure deadlines are achieved.
  • Supervise Staff Accountants during office and client-site engagements.
  • Review junior team members' work and provide practical feedback.
  • Train and support developing professionals.
  • Communicate directly with clients and build strong working relationships.
  • Resolve routine engagement issues independently and escalating more complex matters when appropriate.
  • Conduct accounting, auditing and tax research as required.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and professional judgement across all assignments.
  • Participate in client meetings and gain greater exposure to the complete client relationship, from initial discussions through ongoing service delivery.
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in public accounting and be ready for increased client and engagement responsibility.

You should bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Previous public accounting experience at the Senior Accountant level or equivalent.
  • Experience across audit and assurance engagements.
  • Practical experience preparing business and individual tax returns.
  • Good working knowledge of GAAP and professional auditing standards.
  • Strong financial statement preparation and review skills.
  • Ability to research technical accounting and tax matters.
  • Experience reviewing work and supporting junior accountants.
  • Strong organisation and time-management skills.
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients.
  • CPA qualification or active progress toward CPA licensure is preferred.

This isn't intended to be a position where you remain at the same level indefinitely. The firm is committed to developing professionals who want greater responsibility and provides a defined path toward management and leadership.

You'll have opportunities to work directly with experienced managers and partners, participate in professional training, attend industry events and develop expertise in areas that interest you.

The environment is collaborative rather than internally competitive. Team members are encouraged to ask questions, share technical knowledge and work together when challenging client matters arise.

Why Join?
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.
  • Direct access to firm leadership.
  • Exposure to both audit and tax rather than a narrowly defined position.
  • Professional education and leadership development.
  • Support for professional memberships and continuing education.
  • Regular team and firm events.
  • Opportunities to participate in industry, community and volunteer activities.
  • A growing firm offering long-term stability and career progression.

If you're a public accounting professional who wants broader client exposure, greater ownership of engagements and a genuine opportunity to progress toward management, this could be an excellent next step.
