Job summary

OrthoAtlanta is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role supports the monthly close, audits, cash management, and general accounting across multiple locations in a busy healthcare practice.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Excel and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and accounting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Perform cash reconciliations across multiple bank accounts.
  • Manage fixed assets: capitalization, depreciation, additions, disposals, and inventory.
  • Support annual financial statement audit and external audits with schedules and documentation.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
  • Analyze financial data, identify variances, and recommend actions.
  • Maintain GAAP compliance and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with leaders to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
  • Contribute to special projects and system implementations as assigned.
  • Mentor junior accounting staff.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. Our orthopedic practice requires a professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-location healthcare environment. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial reporting process while supporting month-end close, audit activities, cash management, and general accounting functions.

The ideal candidate is analytical, collaborative, and capable of working independently while partnering effectively with colleagues across departments to identify solutions and improve processes.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead and participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Perform daily and monthly cash reconciliations across multiple bank accounts.
  • Manage and maintain the company’s fixed asset records, including capitalization, depreciation, additions, disposals, and periodic inventory.
  • Support the annual financial statement audit and other external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Analyze financial data, identify trends or variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders and finance team members to improve accounting processes and enhance efficiencies.
  • Assist with special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in healthcare, physician practice management, or a multi-location organization.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
    • Month-end and year-end close
    • Audit preparation and support
    • Fixed asset accounting
    • Cash reconciliations
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • General ledger accounting
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing in a collaborative team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
