The right candidate will step in quickly, manage month‑end/annual close, reconciliations, tax support, and budget development while upholding accuracy and accountability across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manufacturing environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and create GL accounts, macro groupings, and system formats for accurate financial statements.
• Lead month-end and year-end close activities and coordinate auditor information.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Coordinate with auditors for multi-state tax compliance and filings.
• Assist Controller with cash management, planning, and projections.
• Review monthly benefit invoices prior to AP processing.
• Analyze inventory activity, variances, and reporting.
• Collaborate on annual operating budget and variance analysis.
• Provide timely financial issue resolution and reporting.
• Prepare financial presentations for internal/external readers.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for designated accounts.
• Compile property valuations and insurance data for renewals.
• Support lease-vs-buy analyses and other financial evaluations.
• Assist in generating annual employee benefits statements.

Key Responsibilities

(Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:)

• Maintain and create GL accounts, macro groupings, and system formats to support accurate and meaningful financial statements.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close activities, including preparing schedules and coordinating information for auditors.
• Prepare journal entries and assigned account reconciliation.
• Coordinate with external auditor/tax preparer to support multi‑state income tax compliance (quarterly payments, annual returns/reports); complete select state filings internally.
• Assist Controller with cash management, including payment planning, approvals, releases, and weekly cash projections for owners and management.
• Review and approve monthly benefit invoices prior to AP processing.
• Analyze inventory activity and variances, including data collection, reporting, and interpretation.
• Collaborate with the Accountant and department managers to develop the annual operating budget; monitor performance and investigate variances.
• Proactively identify, communicate, and help resolve financial issues in a timely manner.
• Partner with Accountant to prepare formal financial presentation materials for internal and external readers.
• Perform monthly Bank Reconciliation for designated accounts.
• Compile property valuations and business interruption data for annual insurance renewals; report relevant incidents or changes to the insurance broker.
• Support Purchasing with lease‑versus‑buy analyses and other financial evaluations.
• Assist in generating annual employee benefits statements for all employees.
• Respond to information requests and provide financial support to internal departments.
• Offer guidance and problem‑solving support to team members when they encounter challenges they cannot solve on their own.
• Provide backup coverage for various accounting functions within the department.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned or apparent.

We are Looking For:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with internal and external partners
• Ability to work effectively in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment while managing multiple deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, using logic and experience to resolve issues independently and collaboratively
• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
