Job summary

PPD is seeking a Senior Account Director – Medical Communications to drive business development with clinical sponsors. You will position PPD as a preferred provider for medical communications work, qualify deals, develop proposals, and coordinate implementation with relevant teams.

The role requires leadership in sales strategy, client engagement, and contract negotiations, with mentoring responsibilities for junior staff. Flexible culture with global collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic or vocational qualification.
• 5+ years of direct sales experience in CRO space; medical communications sales a plus.
• Scientific, sales, or marketing background with pharma/biotech focus is a plus.
• Proven track record of developing mid- and high-level business contacts.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with Operations, Finance, Bids & Contracts, and Marketing.
• Experience identifying sales leads, delivering professional presentations, and negotiating contracts.
• Understanding of sales automation systems and Microsoft Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Orchestrate RFP strategy calls, develop client proposals, prepare client presentations, and negotiate and close contracts; sign new business authorizations at or above goal.
• Make cold calls and client visits; maintain sales database and activity reports.
• Ensure client satisfaction through periodic client contact and address inquiries or issues.
• Mentor and train junior staff.
