Job summary

Stony Brook University is seeking a Lead Academic Advisor to provide individual advising to undergraduates and to support orientation, registration, and student success initiatives. The role involves developing advising strategies, coordinating events, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and student constituents to promote retention and satisfaction.

The incumbent will lead student services in a cohort-based setting, supervise teaching assistants, and participate in department-wide committees

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) or Bachelor’s with 3 years in an educational setting.
• Experience coordinating projects, programs, and events.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising to undergrads in an assigned cohort.
• Teach a student success course and support orientation and registration.
• Plan and develop advising strategies and events with faculty and staff.
• Coordinate assignments within the unit and assist with committees and project work.
• Support training of advising assistants and interns.
