Job summary

Southern University at New Orleans seeks a Senior Academic Advisor to support first‑year through continuing students (0‑60 earned hours), including student‑athletes, with comprehensive advising, degree planning, and proactive coaching.

Reporting to the Director of University College, you will lead EAB Navigate 360 training, collaborate with Athletics and faculty, monitor progress, and drive data‑informed interventions to promote timely degree completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, higher education, student affairs, business, psychology, social work, or a related field.
• At least five years of progressively responsible university-level academic advising or student-support experience.
• Knowledge of student-success principles, retention practices, and using data to monitor progress.

Responsibilities

• Lead advisor and faculty training on EAB Navigate 360 features and advising protocols.
• Advise freshmen, transfers, and student-athletes with 0-60 credits on courses, planning, and eligibility.
• Provide holistic coaching for academic achievement, leadership, wellness, and career readiness.
• Collaborate with Athletics, faculty, and campus partners to monitor academic performance and persistence.
• Maintain accurate advising notes and case records for each student.
• Analyze progress data and develop targeted interventions for at‑risk students.
• Support orientation, registration, recruitment, and student-engagement programming.
