University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Senior Academic Advisor to provide individual and group academic advising for CS, SDS, and the Accelerated Transfer Program. You will manage internal transfer processes, track progression, and support orientation and academic planning across the School of Computing.
Responsibilities include advising on degree requirements, course selection, registration, and connecting students with campus resources.
General Notes This position will support the university’s new School of Computing, which includes 3 strong departments and more than 6,500 students across all programs. This places UT among the most significant intellectual hubs for computer science, information, and statistics and data science research and education anywhere in the world. The School of Computing has a close relationship with Austin’s thriving tech culture and works at the forefront of fields spanning artificial intelligence, robotics and quantum computing; data science, statistics and scientific discovery; cybersecurity and trustworthy computing; and human-centered technology, information, and the societal impacts of computing.
Provide individual and group academic advising to students in Computer Science, Statistics and Data Sciences, and the Accelerated Transfer Program. Manage Internal Transfer and academic progression processes and support academic planning and student programs across the School of Computing.
Advise students in Computer Science, Statistics and Data Sciences (SDS), and the Accelerated Transfer Program on degree requirements, academic planning, course selection, registration, school and university policies, and available resources. Provide registration support, including assisting students with course selection, enrollment questions, and academic requirements during registration and add/drop periods. Support students in making informed academic decisions and connect them with appropriate School, college, and University resources. Maintain accurate advising records and student documentation.
Manage the Computer Science and SDS Internal Transfer process, including applications, communications, records, and process administration. Manage semester-based C S Entry-Level promotions, including eligibility review, student communications, and appeals for Promotion Committee review. Maintain records and data related to Internal Transfer and student progression. Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and School partners to evaluate processes and recommend improvements.
Participate in and support freshman and external transfer orientation. Provide academic advising and registration support during orientation. Assist with presentations, advising assignments, student communications, and other orientation activities. Support School-wide student programs and transition initiatives as needed.
Prepare 12th class day and other student and enrollment reports to support academic planning and advising operations. Serve as the advising liaison with Statistics and Data Sciences and collaborate on advising priorities, student populations, and academic processes. Track and provide performance metrics and student data to support program planning and decision-making. Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and School partners on curriculum, registration, enrollment, and other academic matters affecting students.
$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Regular staff who have been employed in their current position for the last six continuous months are eligible for openings being recruited for through University-Wide or Open Recruiting, to include both promotional opportunities and lateral transfers. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
