Job summary

Compass Point, an Akima company, is seeking a 5G Subject Matter Expert to design and implement secure 5G architectures at Fort Meade, MD. The role focuses on DoD DoDIN access, DoD-aligned NSaaS services, and a zero‑trust security approach across 5G networks.

The candidate will coordinate with OUSD R&E and DISA, develop reference architectures, and lead security-guided solutions, including testing and monitoring, while working in a hybrid environment near Fort Meade.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in telecommunications with Mobile Network Operators (MNO).
• 2+ years of experience with 5G technologies in the DoD environment and 1+ year supporting DoD 5G efforts.
• 2+ years of experience supporting DoD/DISA 5G initiatives.
• Top Secret/Final Top Secret / Top Secret SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Follows 3GPP 5G standard protocols related to securing DoD missions.
• Provide recommendations for security requirements for 5G standards and decompose DoD 5G use cases and requirements.
• Develop 5G reference architecture COAs including NSaaS for secure DoD access.
• Develop a zero-trust security architecture overlaying DoD security on 5G architectures.
• Support DISA and government workstreams on 5G security, architecture, and monitoring.
