Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Englewood, CO, is seeking a senior transmission design engineer to lead the design of high-voltage lines from 69kV to 765kV. The role involves mentoring teammates, coordinating with clients, and delivering clear reports that meet project specs.

A BS from an ABET-accredited program and 12+ years in transmission design are expected, with 3+ years in 500kV/765kV experience and proficiency in PLS-CADD.

Qualifications

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12 years of transmission design experience.
• 3+ years in 500kV and/or 765kV transmission line design.
• Familiarity with electrical considerations for 765kV lines.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, and calculations/specifications.
• Experience with client interactions on 69kV–765kV lines.
• Knowledge of NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Experience reviewing designs from others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Serve as SME in 500kV and 765kV transmission lines.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specifications and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies meeting client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work including calculations and PLScadd-based models.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy’s System of Processes.
