Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Design Engineer to lead the design of high-voltage projects from 69kV to 765kV and to act as SME on 500kV/765kV lines. You will mentor junior designers, coordinate with clients, and prepare reports and calculations using PLS-CADD.

Hybrid role with in-office work 3 days per week; travel and client interaction are expected to ensure compliant, cost-effective designs per NESC, IEC, IEEE, and related standards.

Qualifications

• Essential: BS in engineering; 12 years of transmission design experience.
• 3+ years of 500kV/765kV transmission line design experience.
• Familiarity with 765kV electrical considerations.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, conceptual designs, design basis, equipment/material selection, calculations, specs.
• Experience interfacing with clients on lines from 69kV to 765kV.
• Knowledge of standards: NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, ANSI.
• Experience reviewing designs from others.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of transmission lines in the 69kV–765kV range.
• Serve as SME for 500kV/765kV transmission lines.
• Mentor and train less experienced designers.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure compliance with specs and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information.
• Perform independent reviews of calculations, drawings, and PLScADD models.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy standards and processes.
